Two connecting flights and one cab ride later, Lexa found herself making her way through the crowd at the small club Arkadia was playing. Her photo shoot had ended abruptly when they were forced to evacuate when a hurricane threatened the Caribbean island. Taking the first flight out landed her in Miami and then an idea hit to see if she could get a flight to Cleveland where her wife was playing.
Navigating through the crowd, she found herself just to the left of center stage and an unobstructed view of Clarke. As Clarke started strumming her guitar, she closed her eyes and Lexa immediately knew the song she was playing.
We got the afternoon You got this room for two One thing I’ve left to do Discover me Discovering you
A flood of memories hit Lexa of the first time Clarke sang that song to her back in high school. It was the only time Lexa could ever remember Clarke being shy about singing a song.
As she hit the outro, Clarke opened her eyes to scan the crowd and instinctively connected with Lexa’s. That same shy smile from years ago graced her lips as she sang the next lyrics.
Damn, baby You frustrate me I know you’re mine all mine, all mine But you look so good it hurts sometimes
Your body is a wonderland Your body is a wonder (I’ll use my hands) Your body is a wonderland
As the song ended, Lexa knew she had to get her wife back to the hotel room for some much-needed re-connection.
