Friendly reminder there is an exit button: use it. Otherwise fanfiction is free to be shared with you, it’s not something given to you that you’re entitled to. Unless the author has explicitly stated they want constructive criticism, assume good vibes are all that is needed.
Listen, even seeing people posting complaints on fanfic are driving me crazy lately. It’s starting to get the same way you have to avoid youtube comments or twitter threads because there are too many assholes with loud mouths blasting their unwanted opinions.
As stated above, unless the author has explicitly stated they want constructive criticism, assume good vibes are all that is needed. Some people really do want to improve their writing skills and will ask for feedback. Some people don’t give a shit and are just writing for fun. Stop coming onto people’s fics and complaining about how Clarke made these choices and Lexa made those choices and blah blah blah-
Politely pointing out a spelling error or something? That’s fine! Expressing your disappointment in a character for something bad they did? Totally fine! But filling up the comments attacking the characters or attacking the author? Not trusting the author to do their job, trusting they have a plan, and attacking them for mistakes the characters made? Rudely screeching at the author for grammatical errors? Go suck a bag of dicks.
If you don’t like it, exit out of it, and go write your own fic. Otherwise stfu and let people enjoy the thing that was shared with them for fun and for free to enjoy.
Reblogging this again since I see yet another moron emerging from their hole. Writers, please just delete rude anonymous comments- don’t give them a voice. They’re pathetic and their lives are shitty enough that their only joy comes from blasting their unwanted opinions on other people’s work.
Imagine if someone drew fanart and another person commented on it how it sucks and doesn’t look exactly like how they think the character should look and the artist should shove it up their ass. They sound like an unhinged idiot, right? That’s exactly how all rude anons commenting on fics sound, too. Just treat them like the little spineless trolls they are and delete them. Don’t take their crappy comments personally. Just keep writing. I’m hella grateful to fic writers for helping keep the fandom and the ship alive, keep doing what you’re doing!
